Baden, Grand Duchy. A Silver Merit Medal, By Christian Schnitzspahn Newly Listed the swastika in the talons(Silberne Verdienstmedaille). Instituted 30 September 1866 by Grand Duke Friedrich I. (1868 1881 issue). Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse with a raised leftward facing profile of Grand Duke Friedrich of Baden, circumscribed by name and title, the reverse with a central inscription of FR VERDIENST (FOR MERIT), within a circular oak leaf wreath, the obverse engraver marked C. SCHNITZSPAHN,
